Upstate Dance & Arts Center

was founded to provide opportunity to people involved in the arts.  We hope to create and offer opportunities that would not otherwise be possible.

By students having access to world-class artists, we hope to inspire and motivate the students that will shape the art world of tomorrow.

At Upstate Dance & Arts Center, we pride ourselves on our involvement in our community.  Our instructors look to educate our students not only in the arts, but also in philanthropy and compassion.  We encourage our kids to do good works and set the bar high with our own examples.  We try to bring people together from many different backgrounds to raise donations, awareness, and community spirit.  Just one example is our Annual Community Benefit Performance to help our local food bank and Toys for Tots.  Throughout the past 5 years, we have successfully raised thousands of dollars worth of food, toys, and cash donations for our local community, plus we offer the performance absolutely free to the public.  Please join in our effort to build our community through good works and generosity.

Meet the director...

Susan Schneider has been dancing for over 25 years and choreographing professionally for 13 years.  She began her dance education in Binghamton at age 4 and has studied under several notable directors including Brian Burke (Le Reve, Tap Dogs), Danita Salamida (Fame), and Nola Rocco (internationally renowned dancer, choreographer, and movement coach).  She has also studied in New York City with instructors at Broadway Dance Center and Ailey Extension, as well as worked with the Paul Taylor Dance Company as a liaison to the Binghamton community.  Susan has been commissioned for her work across the nation, including assignments with SUNY Potsdam, Dance Dimensions (Austin, TX), and locally with Binghamton University, Children's Dance Theatre, Spiedie Fest, Willow Dance, Standing Room Only, Dance Stories, and the Kermidas Dance Company.  Most recently, Susan was honored to work with the Endicott Performing Arts Center as the choreographer for Aida and Burlesque: A Las Vegas Review.  Susan has worked as a Family Life Specialist at the Children's Home of Wyoming Conference, is the founder and choreographic director of Upstate Dance & Arts Center (Endwell, NY), and is a member of The National Association of Professional Women.  Currently, she is entering her second year of law school at Syracuse University College of Law and is working on a dual degree with the School of Education as well.
